Goodmorning all! During breakfast this morning I'm trying to learn all about bindi, tilaka, bottu, bindiya, kukum.. many names for the dot, or drop, that Indian women have on their forehead. Why? My daughter has decided to go to school dressed as an Indian princess, it's carneval time, great choice though I think. john bauer

I'm going back in time flipping through the fairy tales with illustrations of John Bauer, a Swedish artist, painter and illustrator, born in 1882. He tragically passed away at only 36 years of age, together with his wife and child in a boating accident. I clearly remember the enthusiasm and curiousity I felt visiting the exhibition of his works with school. Returning to class, our teacher put on some classical music and we let our fantasy flow, drawing whatever came into our minds, inspired by Bauer's work. Fairytale moments...

cross your fingers

People tend to be very superstitious in Italy. I wasn't at all before coming here, it was just something you talked about sometimes, the black cat, don't walk under a ladder, don't put the keys on the table etc. Inevitable I've become a bit precautious, following certain routines before the tvshow, not wearing purple on tv (brings bad luck according to some), not saying "oh great, no traffic to today ",while driving (around the corner you'll find a trafficjam for sure!!). I have my own special routine before boarding a plane, I knock on it (haha, I know, so silly) and I sit in a certain position before takeoff and landing.
